One of the truths of starting a new business is that you only rarely achieve what you set out to and what you do achieve is sometimes not what you planned to do.

For this Geek Night we have speakers from some of the most exciting companies in London to have successfully got to the top of the startup tree and form a sustainable business. They will be sharing with us the technical challenges they have experienced during their growth and the solutions they've found to their problems.

Confirmed Speakers

Giles Thomas from Resolver Systems will be talking about founding Resolver. We will also confirm some technical talks around Resolver's Iron Python based Spreadsheet on the Web system.

Martin Dittus from Last.fm on "What to do when the data you have to analyse keeps growing but your budget doesn't?" a discussion of why Last.fm ended up using Hadoop and being one of the biggest users of commodity distributed systems.

Hello All,

I very much enjoyed the presentations given - these geek nights are becoming quite invaluable to me.

Question : is it possible to get copies from Mr. Dittus' presentation? He had heaps of interesting links near the end of his talk that I'd very much like to research.

Kind Regards,

Paul

Guys,

I joined the group recently and did not take part of any meeting yet. I would like to join this one but I doubt I can make it before 8:30. Is it a problem? Are the doors closed :-) ?

Thanks,
Leo.
